Join us as mischievous Emil and the whole family from Kattholt take over the museum’s Swedish farmsteads. We can’t promise the fair-haired troublemaker will stay out of mischief.
Emil, Ida and all the others from Lönneberga have moved into our Swedish farms. And of course they bring along all the beloved stories, such as the time Ida was hoisted up the flagpole, or when Line had a toothache. When the curtain falls, you can step into one of our creative workshops. Try carving wooden figures like Emil, write with pen and ink, make your own hobby horse or simply let your imagination run free.
Emil and the Piglet
Experience theatre under the open sky
This summer, for the first time, you can experience Emil and Grissepjokket in our Emil of Lönneberga performances. Among the cozy Swedish farmhouses, we meet Emil and the pig Grissepjokket. That’s when the day takes a funny turn, as Grissepjokket and the hens get hold of some fermented cherries. Suddenly they start acting completely crazy, causing lots of laughter and confusion in Katthult. The performance takes place in the open air and brings you close to both the story and country life in the old days.

Emiiil!

There’s a place for you too in Emil’s carving workshop
Whether your dad is yelling at you or not, you can bring out your inner Emil in the little rascal’s carving workshop. Here you can learn to make everything from knives, spoons, and fine patterns to wooden figures, just like Emil.

Lingonberries, waffles and cinnamon buns
Enjoy a little break in the Swedish way
“Fika” for the family with cinnamon buns and coffee. Just follow the smell of freshly baked waffles. And treat yourself by topping them with sugar, jam or whipped cream. At Line’s food truck, the menu features classic Swedish dishes made from organic ingredients. Wash it all down with a glass of ice-cold lingonberry juice or an elderflower slushie.

Take a little history home with you

Just so you know
The program is subject to change
Sometimes little mishaps happen or the clouds can’t hold the water, so changes may occur. Just so you know, when you show up on the day.
