On the farm, work wasn’t just for the adults
The whole family lived here with father, mother, sister and brother and all the animals. Together with the farmhands and maids, everyone took part in the daily work. The boys had to learn to become men, so they were sent out to the fields and the barn. The girls had to learn to become grown women, so their tasks were inside the house by the hearth, the butter churn and the wool carding.
But it would be boring if everything was only about work. Now and then there is also time to play. Would you like to get to know the peasants better? Then come and hear about life on the farm, child labour, and maybe try a peasant children’s game.
This tour is especially aimed at children and families with children.
